My name is Annika Lillan. I am a warm-hearted creature that sometimes believes to be a human, born in the wrong epoch. If I could choose a random carrier, I'd become a viking. I'd be a great shielmaiden, as I'm almost 6'2" tall. :XD:

I adore art, but also lots of other things. I keep a small horde of stickbugs (phasmidae) and two giant millipedes. I am addicted to chocolate and excessive wool hoarding, I love Star Wars, books, gaming, handcrafts, unconventional cultural phenomena (like reenactement), celtic/viking culture and stuff I find in nature, like snail shells, leafes, bones, wings and claws. The appartment I share with my beloved partner looks like a small museum. Sometimes I work in a falconry, helping to show medieval hunting to people. I also work as a zoo guide. I tend to take sides with villains and antagonists, and especially misunderstood fantasy races. I can't watch Lord of the Ring without frowning when there's orcs being killed. Much affection for orcs and goblins from my side.
I love viking reenactment, and because of me being a poor student, I need to make most of the equipment myself. I taught myself tablet weaving, viking wire knit, naalebinding, bonecarving and sewing.

Being a neopagan, I try to spend much time out in nature watching and listening. I also try help protecting its beauty, that's one of the reasons why I study Biology. I'm currently doing my MSc.

I can't really identify my favourite way to express art. I draw and paint landscapes, portraits, cartoons, scifi, fantasy, anthro, nude art and much more, although my favorite style should be folkloristic fantasy. I like to work with all traditional mediums.

Plague Knight and Mona by TheFieldAlchemist
Plague Knight and Mona
Hee hee hee...

I LOVE Shovel Knight's Plague Knight. Plague doctor mask? Alchemist? Crazy scientist? Oh yes, just my thing. Super cute awkwardly in love with his assistant, but too shy to tell her? OH DAMMIT YES! When you press down, Plague Knight dances by himself, but when you do that next to Mona he just shyly taps the tips of his fingers together.

He's the best boss in the game and the new dlc "Plague of Shadows" is simply amazing. The story behind it is just great, taking place parallel to the events in the main game, and the lovestory between the alchemist Mona and Mr. Crazy Scientist is even more adorable and genuine than the one between Shield Knight and Shovel Knight, imho. Oh my, did I freak out. These two are driving me nutts.

There is a pretty damn sweet story on, written by my lovely friend Aescela, about Plague Knight and Mona. Have a look!…

Both characters belong to Yacht Club Games.

Fight like a girl by TheFieldAlchemist
Fight like a girl
Don't you call her a lady if you want to keep your arms.

This might be a Coilla-inspired orcess again, but I think she develops into my own favorite orcish character, with some Elder Scrolls designs mixed in. I tried to do some kind of cell shading, which is something that watercolors are NOT made for. "cough" I had fun doing so, though, so that's fine. At least her hair looks good.
Nutt and Glenda by TheFieldAlchemist
Nutt and Glenda
Spioler alert! If you haven't read "Unseen Academicals" by Terry Pratchett () yet, don't read further. Read the book instead. :)

Love goes through the stomach...

Nutt, the only orc ever to appear in a Discworld novel, and Glenda, the kitchen girl, who slowly and ever so awkwardly fall in love with each other melted my damn heart while I was reading that book. The two really fit perfectly together, since they both have their little issues and edges. Glenda is a control freak who secretly longs for escaping her save, but dull everyday life, and Nutt has more scars on his poor little soul than one can count. He adores Glenda for her kindness and protectiveness and, on the other hand, understands her better than she does herself and that way they complete each other. Oh my, did I get excited while I was reading, and I am NOT the type of person to fuss over romantic stuff. These two are just adorable.

I have another fanart of Mr Nutt, right here:…

Both characters belong to Terry Pratchett.

I'm one of the fourteen lucky bastards who got chosen to participate in the excursion to Svalbard, something the department for ecophysiology of plants does every few years. I'm so excited!

We're going to do research on plants on Svalbard, visit the science station there and enjoy the arctic landscape.

Finally escaping the damn heat... Arctic ocean here I come. I'll be back in two weeks. See you then! :huggle:

Your watercolors are breathtaking. Your faeries are fantastic and toothy and beautiful. I love your vision and your style. You always sneak up on me with these exquisite little faerie paintings and make me reconsider throwing my watercolors into an abyss. I adore following you, thank you so much for sharing your art with the world.

Oh... oh my.

Coming from a professional artist like you, that means a LOT to me. Thank you. I always try and put my love for dark-ish, folkloristic, non-cliché fairies and creatures into paintings, and sometimes I like the results, and sometimes I don't, and sometimes I just do fanart of stuff I love and then there's times in which I'm just lazy. ^.^ It's great for you to be able to do art in a professional way. I was considering this when I finished school, but chose a different path and I guess I did the right thing. I'm not good at producing art on demand. I can dump a bunch of colors on a sheet of paper when the mood strikes me, but not when somebody tells me to. But that's fine.

I took a look at your gallery and I really love your style and taste! Please don't say your watercolor skills should be in any kind of doubt, they are gorgeous. Really.

Thanks again! :huggle:
